Bellaire grad McGilbra contributes to Texas State victory

Bellaire High School graduate Taylor McGilbra played for Texas State in its 63-57 win against conference rival UT Arlington Saturday, Jan. 12, at College Park Center in Arlington, the Texas State website reported.

McGilbra helped the Bobcats improve to 7-8 on the season and 1-5 in the Western Athletic Conference.

Texas State's next game is 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19 at home against UTSA.

McGilbra, a 5-foot-8 junior for Texas State University, is a 2009 graduate of Bellaire High School. She was named the MVP at the District 20-5A Tournament and also earned All-Greater Houston honors from the Houston Chronicle during high school. She played a year at Boise State University where she played 30 games as a freshman before transferring. The Houston native is the daughter of Don and Monique McGilbra and is a sociology major.
