Registration open for Japanese cooking school
Registration is under way for a Japanese cooking class at the Central Market Cooking School on Thursday, Jan. 26.
The course will be taught by Hiroko Shimbo, chef and consultant for restaurants, trained sushi chef, cookbook author and culinary instructor.
According to a press release, "Discover an easy way to create authentic Japanese flavors in your own kitchen. This authority on Japanese cuisine will introduce you to sauces that can be made and then kept on hand so that prep work becomes a breeze and to traditional Japanese cooking techniques that can be applied to American produce, cuts of meat and fish."
Classes will be held from 6:30-9 p.m.
Cost is $70, which includes a copy of Hiroko's "American Kitchen: Cooking with Japanese Flavors." To register, visit www.centralmarket.com.

Central Market Cooking School offers people a chance to learn culinary skills from school staff, featured instructors and celebrity chefs. A variety of classes are offered, including hands-on, basic, children's and demonstration. All class participants receive a recipe packet and sample the food. Most evening classes also include wine pairings. Reservations are required for classes and are taken on a first-come, first-served basis.
