Episcopal High School students earn musical accolades
Music students at Episcopal High School recently auditioned for the Association of Small School Bands All-Region Band on Saturday, Nov. 3 at Sealy High School.
The auditions were open to public and private school students with a school classification of 3A and below. Students were judged on their performance of two musical selections and ranked using the Olympic scoring system.
Four students from EHS were accepted into the regional band, two of which placed high enough to advance to area auditions held in January.
Graham Jones, 15, became eleventh-chair clarinet; Julian Outlaw, 13, made eighth chair; Harry Patterson, 14, earned first chair in percussion and will advance to area auditions; and Jacob-Paul Tatum, 16, made second-chair tuba and will also advance to area auditions.
The Texas Private School Music Educators Association also recently announced new members to the 2012-13 honor choirs, who earned their position by submitting a recorded audition to a panel of judges. Autumn Watt, 15, soprano, and Allison Asarch, 13, soprano, both EHS students, are two of the new members.
The Texas Private School Music Educators Association All-State Band and Orchestra will be selected in December and will perform at the TPSMEA Convention on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013 in Evans Auditorium at Texas State University.
Episcopal High School is located at 4650 Bissonnet St. in Bellaire. Sealy High School is located at 2372 Championship Drive in Sealy.
