Bellaire athletes in action: Men's basketball
The following men's basketball players, all with Bellaire high school ties, have scheduled action this week:
Jonathan Evans, Houston Baptist University
Position: Guard
High school: Bellaire High School
This week: Saturday, Nov. 17, versus Dallas Christian College
About Evans: Evans is a junior guard for Houston Baptist University. He is a 2010 graduate of Bellaire High School, where he was a three-time all-district selection for coach Bruce Glover. Evans averaged 14 points and grabbed three rebounds. The Houston native and business management major is the son of Edward and Monica Evans.
Kene Anyigbo, Western Kentucky University
High school: Bellaire High School
This week: Saturday, Nov. 17, versus Western Carolina University
About Anyigbo: Anyigbo played at Bellaire High School in 2006-2010. ESPN rated him 82nd-best power forward prospect in the nation. He was named to the All-Region Second-Team.
Ryan Keenan, Wake Forest University
High School: Westbury Christian High School
This week: Saturday, Nov. 17, at TBD
About Keenan: Keenan played his senior year, 2007-2008, at Westbury Christian School for coach Greg Glenn; helping them to the TAPPS state final four. That same season, he was named second team all-district. Keenan received the Best Teammate Award and Wildcat Effort Award, given on behalf of the team, and held 13 varsity letters. Majoring in Spanish, Keenan is the son of Gregg and Lynne Keenan.
Cameron Wells, The Citadel
High School: Bellaire High School
This week:Saturday, Nov. 17, versus Union College, Barbourville
About Wells: Wells played at Bellaire High School in 2004-2007 for coach Bruce Glover, lettering in basketball and tennis. While at Bellaire, he was honored for All-District and All-Star MVP. Wells is the son of Ronald and Elaine Wells.
