ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Jeffrey Granados
Q: Who is your favorite athlete?
A: Leo Manzano. He brought home the silver medal from the London Olympics in the 1500 meters, which is the event that I run. He's also a Hispanic guy from Texas, so he's very relatable. It makes you put things into perspective and realize that anything is possible.
Q: Do you plan on running in college?
A: Yeah, I really look forward to it. It depends on the school I go to, but regardless of whether I go to a big or small school, I plan on either walking on the team or taking a scholarship somewhere. I've been looking at Duke University or Tufts University.
Q: Who is your greatest inspiration?
A: It's probably my mom. She was a refugee from the civil war in El Salvador, and she tells me all the time, "If I could have grown up the way you grow up, I'd make so much of my life." It helps her to vicariously live her dreams through me, as well as my own, of course.
