The photo earned honorable mention honors in the Staff/Volunteer Photo Category. Cruz was surrounded by the hospice care team.
The winning entries were announced Monday, Nov. 5 at the NHPCO Clinical Team Conference and Pediatric Intensive in Lake Buena Vista.
The winning entries are posted at www.nhpco.org/awards and will be featured in the December 2012 issue of NewsLine magazine.
"We feel humbled and honored to have our photograph chosen from literally hundreds of submissions from NHPCO members around the country," Andrew Rowland, the direction of communications at Solari, stated in a release.
The winning photo was taken by freelance photographer Craig Hartley at the Houston Solari Hospice Cares Inpatient Center in June.
