Houston businesswomen dedicate proceeds to Komen Foundation

Two Houston businesswomen are turning a passion for fashion into a commitment to raising money for breast cancer survivors.

Sisters-in-law Victoria Welker, of Tom Magliaros Hair Additions, and Jennifer Welker, of Golden Thread, have pledged to commit 20 percent of their proceeds for the month of October to the Susan G. Komen Foundation, according to a news release.

The fundraising drive is spurred in part because both women have experienced breast cancer in their families, the release states.
Victoria is the director of operations at Tom Magliaros Hair Additions, which has provided non-surgical hair replacement services to the Houston area for more than 40 years, according to the release.

The company works to reduce the stress of hair loss - such as that which occurs during breast cancer treatment - by duplicating as far as possible its clients' natural hair, the release states. The customized service retails for about $1,760.

Jennifer is the founder of Golden Thread, a custom necklace line. She has designed two necklaces aimed specifically at raising awareness of breast cancer: the Sideways Rose Gold Awareness Ribbon and the Monogrammed Rose Gold Disc with Diamond. The necklaces retail for $300 to $550, depending on options.
