Bellaire football looking for win against Manvel

The Bellaire football team will try to keep momentum on its side when it plays host to Manvel on Saturday, Sept. 15 in a 6 p.m. game at Butler Stadium.

Bellaire knocked off Fort Bend Travis 33-27 in overtime Friday, Sept. 7 and is 1-1 on the season.

Denzel Evans ran two yards for the game-winning touchdown in overtime. He also scored the touchdown that forced OT with a 3-yard run in the final minute of regulation.

Evans rushed for 113 yards in the win, while Trevon Smith racked up 136 yards on the ground. Smith also threw three touchdown passes and tallied 95 yards through the air. The Cardinals racked up 320 yards and allowed 287 yards.

Manvel is 1-1 after falling 56-28 to Galena Park North Shore on Friday, Sept. 7. The Mavericks led 14-0 after one quarter and held a 28-14 lead at halftime.

Shane McCarley threw four touchdown passes in the loss and finished with 278 yards through the air on 17 of 34 passing. Carlos Thompson caught two touchdown passes and Kyrion Parker caught two scoring strikes as well. Manvel racked up 380 yards and allowed 569.

Bellaire will play at Port Arthur Memorial on Friday, Sept. 21 and will play Houston Sam Houston on Thursday, Sept. 27. The Cardinals will travel to Houston Madison on Friday, Oct. 5. All three games will begin at 7 p.m.

Manvel will play at Pasadena Memorial on Thursday, Sept. 27 and will play Alvin on Friday, Oct. 5. It will take on Pasadena Dobie on Friday, Oct. 12. All three games are scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
