Bellaire High School to host conversation on bond proposition
Houston Independent School District administrators are seeking public input on a bond proposal that would impact 38 school facilities operated by the district.
According to a press release, the bond will assist in modernizing outdated high school buildings and build new schools to meet students' needs across the city. It will primarily focus on 28 of the district's high schools as well as impact 10 other school buildings.
"Many of Houston's high school buildings were designed to meet the needs of students more than half a century ago and are no longer able to accommodate the best instructional approaches for helping today's students meet rising academic expectations," independent school facilities experts said in the release.
Ten informational meetings about the bond and affected projects are scheduled throughout the district in late September and early October. One of the meetings will be 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at Bellaire High School, located at 5100 Maple St. in Bellaire. Each meeting will include an informational session followed by questions from attendees.
Full details about the proposal, which will go before voters Tuesday, Nov. 6, can be found at blogs.houstonisd.org/2012bond. Questions about the proposition may be emailed to email@example.com.
