High school football: Alief Taylor-Bellaire, preview
Alief Taylor and Bellaire will square off in a 7 p.m. high school football season opener on Friday, Aug. 31 at LeRoy Crump Stadium.
Alief Taylor advanced to the postseson a year ago, falling 27-7 to Memorial. The Lions finished 7-6 overall, and now are in their second season under head coach Tom Gerber.
Bellaire finished 7-4 last season and made it to the playoffs as well. The Cardinals were eliminated by Cinco Ranch in a 59-28 setback.
Bellaire will play at home against Travis on Friday, Sept. 7 and will play host to Manvel on Friday, Sept. 14. The Cardinals battle Port Arthur Memorrial on Friday, Sept. 21. All three games begin at 7 p.m.
Alief Taylor will play at Katy on Friday, Sept. 7 and will host Hightower on Friday, Sept. 14. Both games begin at 7 p.m.
