Bellaire Planning and Zoning Commission approves amendments at May 8 meeting

The Bellaire Planning and Zoning Commission approved amendments to planned developments at its regular meeting held at 6 p.m. May 8 at City Hall, 7008 S. Rice Ave.

The meeting began at 6:03 p.m. with commission Chairman Michael Doyle and members Michael Doyle, Paul Simmons, Peter Boecher, Donna Rickenbacker, Win Frazier and Wayne Alderman present. Commissioner Lori Aylett was absent.

Also attending the meeting were Director of Community Development John McDonald, Assistant City Attorney Elliot Barner and Planning and Zoning Secretary Ashley Kornegay.

The Commission discussed the approval of minutes from its prior meetings, including April 10 and April 24.

The meeting was opened to general public comments and was followed by a public hearing on a request for an amendment to an existing planned development to create two residential lots within The Park at Bellaire. After discussion, the public hearing was adjourned at 6:30 p.m. and the commission unanimously approved the measure.

The commission also unanimously approved an amendment to the plat of lot 4 and the west 27 feet of lot 3 of Irvindale Subdivision at 4605 Oleander St.

A proposed revision to the city's code of ordinances regarding platting procedures was approved by the commission by a 5-1 vote.  

The commission heard a staff liaison report regarding the status of projects it previously addressed, changes to community development staff and the Episcopal High School Ice Cream Social.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:03 p.m.
