Bellaire Parks offers cheerleading program

Bellaire Parks and Recreation will offer a cheerleading program from September to November.

Starz Cheer and Tumble will teach the fundamentals of cheerleading, including motions, jumps, dance and stunts. After learning the basics, students will practice a cheer routine to share with parents on the final day of class.

Sections will be available from 4-4:50 p.m. either Tuesdays or Thursdays. The Tuesday section runs from Sept. 11 to Nov. 13 and the Thursday section runs from Sept. 13 to Nov. 15. Instruction will be led in the Dance Room at Bellaire Recreation Center, 7008 Fifth St., Bellaire

The class is $120 for residents and $130 for nonresidents. All students must wear a Starz Cheer T-shirt, available from Starz Cheer and Tumble for $12. Students must also wear black shorts and tennis shoes, keeping their hair pulled back in a ponytail.
