Lone Star Veterans to hold men's, co-ed softball tournament

The Lone Star Veterans association is hosting the third annual Softball Classic, a men's and co-ed softball tournament, on Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Houston Sportsplex, 12631 Main St. in Houston.

The cost for registration will be a $200 donation per team, accepted on the day of the tournament, and the first 16 men's teams and co-ed teams, respectively, will be entered. An umpire fee of $15 per game will also be enforced before every game.

The event will also feature prizes and giveaways, including T-shirts for the first-place teams, trophies for the first-, second- and third-place teams and a trophy for the offensive and defensive MVPs.

The Lone Star Association is an all-volunteer organization that helps returning veterans readjust to civilian life and keep them from becoming homeless.
