Small business financial workshop set for Aug. 25

A cash management workshop for businesses will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 25 at The Kingdom Builders Center in Houston.

This workshop will cover financial statements and how to use QuickBooks. It will also go over how to successfully apply for a Small Business Administration guaranteed loan and what an SBA loan officer looks for in the financial section of a business plan.

Quintin Wiggins will present the section on financial statements, where attendees will learn about balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements and financial ratios.

Wiggins will also discuss QuickBooks, including how to set up a customer, pay vendors, the importance of bank reconciliations, payroll, inventory, invoicing, accounts payable, accounts receivable and processing credit cards.

Nasrullah Khan will lead the segment on successfully applying for a SBA guaranteed loan, including how to overcome the pitfalls in the application process, how to complete the application, preparing for the interview process with the lender and what to look for once the loan is approved.
