Museum of Fine Arts to display 'Picasso Black and White'
The "Picasso Black and White" exhibit will make a stop at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston in February 2013.
The exhibit first premiered at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York in the fall. Houston will display the works from Feb. 24 to May 27, 2013.
"Picasso Black and White" is the first major exploration of the artist's black-and-white work, including paintings, sculptures and works on paper from throughout his career. The exhibit spans from 1904 to 1971, dissecting Picasso's vision and methods.
Organizer Carmen Gimnez, a Picasso scholar, says these works highlight the artist's cited belief that color can weaken a piece.
Many of the works have never been exhibited before, and have been borrowed from private collections and the Picasso family.
The Museum of Fine Arts Houston is located at 1001 Bissonnet. For more information, call 713-639-7300.
