Houston Cougar Aquatic Sports designed for swimmers of all ages and levels
COOG swimming is designed for swimmers of all ages and skill levels who are interested in pursuing the sport competitively, improving their swimming strokes, or to get into shape and have some fun.
The Houston Cougar Aquatic Sports swimming team club offers swimming options for people of all skill levels.
According to a press release, COOG swimming is for anyone ages 5-105 looking to pursue swimming competitively, improving swimming strokes, get into shape, or have fun. Swimmers are worked with individually to meet their goals.
The press release stated that training is offered at two locations, the first being at COOG-Central at JCC/Merfish located at 9000 S. Rice Ave. or at COOG-South located at Friendswood Aquatic Center at 1115 Falling Leaf.
The levels offered at both locations include development, age groups, junior, senior, national and masters.
The development class is for youth who are new to swimming or have basic swimming skills. These children should be able to complete two or more lengths of the pool at a time and have a basic understanding of swimming. Swimmers in this group will learn all four strokes, improve their swimming technique and understanding, and improve their speed and endurance to progress to the next group.
The cost for this class is $75 per month.
Age Group is for youth who have an intermediate swimming skill and knowledge, and can complete eight or more length at a time. Participants will expand their knowledge of swimming, improve upon stroke technique, and increase their swimming speed and skill.
The cost for this class is $90 per month.
The Junior program is for youth that excel in the pool and are competitive swimmers, the press release stated. Participants will build speed and endurance and improve technique.
The cost for this class is $125 per month.
The Senior group is for swimming athletes who want to build speed and endurance, improve swimming technique, and be prepared for the next group. Swimmers learn different training techniques and participate in dry land training to improve core body strength and maximize their potential in the pool, the press release stated.
The cost for this class is $160 per month.
The National group is for swimmers ages 13-14 who have TAGS qualifying times, or for swimmers 15 and older with at least three "A" time standards. The group focuses on building speed and endurance, improving technique, and preparing for swimming on a college, state, and national level. Swimmers learn different training techniques and take part in dry land training to improve core body strength.
The Master's group is for swimmers over the age of 18 who are looking to get fit or compete at the Master's level, according to the press release.
The Master's class is $50 per month or $100/20 punch cards.
