Houston Parks and Recreation participates in World's Largest Swimming Lesson
The Houston Parks and Recreation Department joined 24 countries and 46 states in participating in the World's Largest Swimming Lesson on June 14.
Twenty Houston Parks and Recreation pools participated in the event, which was held to bring awareness to the importance of swimming lessons for water safety. The event is seeking status in the Guinness World Record books.
Participating pools included Agnes Moffitt, Denver Harbor, De Zavala, Glenbrook, Greenwood, Lincoln City, MacGregor, Memorial, Moody, Northline, Reveille, Sagemont, Sharpstown, Stude, Sunnyside, T.C. Jester, Tidwell, Townwood, Westbury and Wilson Memorial.
The World's Largest Swimming Lesson was sponsored by several national organizations, including the Swim For Life Foundation, United States Swim School Association, National Aquatic Safety Company and International Swimming Hall of Fame.
