Former Bellaire High School standout Chris Young went 1-for-4, belting his eighth home run of the year in Arizona's 6-2 loss to San Diego on Monday, July 2.
Young, a center fielder, is batting .215 with 19 RBIs, 18 runs scored and two stolen bases on the season.
A 2001 graduate of Bellaire High School, Young was selected in the 16th round (493rd overall) of the 2001 amateur draft by the Chicago White Sox.
After the 2005 season, Young was traded by Chicago to Arizona as the center piece of the four-player deal.
Young made his Major League debut on Aug. 18, 2006, and in 2007, his first full big league season, batted .237 with 32 home runs and 68 RBIs to finish fourth in the National League Rookie of the Year voting. He was named to the NL All-Star and Home Run Derby teams during the 2010 season that saw him hit .257 with 27 home runs, 91 RBIs with 94 runs scored.
Young was born Sept. 5, 1983, in Houston.
