Komen Houston grants millions to local organizations

The Impact Awards Luncheon was held at 11 a.m. June 5 at the Omni Houston Hotel by the Houston affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure to honor its 2012-2013 grantees and the winners of the Impact Awards.

The foundation donated $3.04 million in grants to 21 organizations that are making an impact in the effort to fight breast cancer.

“Each year we look forward to the opportunity to share with others the tremendous impact Komen funds and volunteers make in the community,” said Adriana M. Higgins, executive director of the Houston Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, in the press release. “Komen Houston’s grant program provides dollars to local organizations that put the funds to use by providing research, education, screening and treatment to the medically uninsured and underserved.”
