Westbury High School teacher wins Disney trip
Thanks to a Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels essay contest, one local teacher earned a four-day, three-night vacation at Hilton Orlando Lake Buena Vista, located in the Walt Disney World resort area.
Anthony Wilson, who teaches English at Houston's Westbury High School, got high marks from one of his students when he was nominated as an A+ Teacher by 10th-grader Brandon Marco of Bellaire.
Marco nominated his teacher for his critical analysis of literature, intensive writing, interactive group settings and grueling assignments to make sure his students reach their full potential.
Nominees submitted essays, and Downtown Disney Resort Area Hotels selected 10 winning essays based on their content, grammar and "heart."
The annual contest was hosted in partnership with AirTran Airways and Walt Disney World.
