The Bellaire Men’s Club has received top honors from the Houston Independent Public Schools.

The club received the Outstanding Youth Volunteer Group of the Year Award at the annual Volunteers in Public Schools recognition breakfast held May 29.

This was the eighth year for the club to be nominated for the honor. The nonprofit male youth group was nominated for its annual toy drive at the Gulfton area Gabriela Mistral Center for Early Childhood.

More than 3,890 toys have been collected, wrapped and given out by Bellaire High School students since the center opened.

The award was accepted by Bellaire Men’s Club officers Jake Simpson, Aaron Tejada and Ryan Techmanski.
