Bellaire Episcopal High School graduate Brian Friday helped the Indianapolis Indians beat the Durham Bulls, 4-0, Thursday, May 31 in minor league baseball action.

Friday went 2-for-3, with a triple, a run scored, and an RBI.

On the season, Friday, a second baseman, is batting .196, with 13 RBI and three stolen bases.
A 2004 graduate of Bellaire Episcopal, Friday accepted a baseball scholarship at Rice University. He played three seasons (2005 to 2007) for the Owls ending his college career with a .327 batting average, 55 doubles, 40 stolen bases and 98 RBI.

Friday was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round (98th overall) of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft. He quickly advanced through the Pirates' system making it to Triple-A Indianapolis of the International League early in the 2010 season, his second full year of professional baseball. Entering 2011, Friday was a career .272 minor league hitter with 73 doubles, 14 triples, 14 home runs, 189 runs scored and 123 RBI in 345 games. He was born Dec. 16, 1985 in Houston.
