TXU Energy presents 'Chill Out' at Houston Zoo

Animals and humans alike can "Chill Out" this summer at the Houston Zoo.

With a special coupon available on the Houston Zoo's website, www.houstonzoo.org, guests can save $4 after 4 p.m. on admission and enjoy four permanent misting stations that cool visitors while offering tips to save energy on cooling costs at home.

Another part of the TXU Energy-sponsored program, zoo animals will be offered "Chill Out"-themed treats ranging from ice pops for bears and otters to baths for elephants. The zoo's birds will have sprinklers daily from 1:30-2:30 p.m. while the elephants will get ice treats on Saturdays at 1:30 p.m. A complete schedule of the Chill Out animal events can be found at www.houstonzoo.org/chillout.

TXU Energy is retailer that provides electricity and related services to 2 million customers in Texas.

The Houston Zoo is located at 6200 Herman Park Drive and is open daily from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. (Central Standard Time) with last admission at 5 p.m., and from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. during Central Daylight Time (last admission at 6 p.m.).

Regular admission is $13 for adults, $7 for seniors, $9 for children age 2-11 and free for children under 2.
