Cristian Buitrago has been accepted to U.S. Military Academy at West Point
Cristian Buitrago, recent graduate of Bellaire High School, is ready to continue his academic career at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Recently graduated from Bellaire High School, Cristian Buitrago said he is excited about starting the next phase of his academic career at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. Having spent much of his high school years participating in JROTC, he excelled at his premilitary activities. Buitrago intends to make the military his profession with a set goal of becoming a general.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Accepted to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, battalion commander for Bellaire JROTC, promoted to colonel (highest rank in all of JROTC), chosen as the fourth brigade commander for HISD, panel member and junior adviser for Army Reserve Teen Panel
FAVORITE CLASS: "JROTC because it teaches skills that you don't learn in your ordinary classes. We learn leadership skills, people-to-people skills, and we are pushed to our limits. Also, we build great bonds with fellow cadets."
FAVORITE THINGS TO DO AFTER CLASS: "Participate in JROTC's Raider and Physical Training Team. Volunteer in military events."
FAVORITE BOOK: "'My American Journey' by Colin Powell. It's an inspiring book."
FAVORITE WEBSITE: "West Point Portal because, well, I'm excited for my start at school, and I spent the whole year checking my status and applying."

FAVORITE TV SHOW: "'Smallville.' I'm a huge fan of Superman."
AMBITION: "I want to become a general in the U.S. Army and serve in the Senate. I want a life in public service."
