Nature Discovery Center to hold summer science camps
The Nature Discovery Center will host several summer science camps for children 5 to 10 years old.
Each weeklong camp will meet from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the center, 712 Newcastle St., Bellaire.
"World Nature Explorers" will take place June 4-8 or June 11-15. This will be a biological exploration of the whole world on a child’s level through games, crafts and activities.
Two "Texas Nature Camps" will be offered June 18-22 or June 25-29. These camps will be a "voyage of discovery" across the state of Texas.
"Digging Up the Past" will take place July 9-13 or July 16-20. These weeks will focus on archaeological discovery with hands-on experience doing an excavation.
"Aquatic Animals of the World" will take place July 23-27 or July 30 to Aug. 3. The camp will delve into the freshwater environments around the world and all the creatures that live there.
The final science camp is "Science Adventures," which takes place Aug. 13-17. Different science subjects will be featured every day. It will look at the lives of invertebrates, wolves, bats and more.
The cost of each camp week is $220 for Discovery Center members and $270 for nonmembers.
