Bellaire Girl Scout earns Gold Award
Holly Reichert has been a member of Girl Scouts for 12 years and has also earned the Bronze and Silver Awards.
Girl Scout Holly Reichert of Bellaire has earned the Gold Award, the highest a Girl Scout can receive.
Earning the award requires more than 100 community service hours and two to three years of planning a project to benefit the community.
For her project, Reichert created a science enrichment center at Horn Academy designed to help students focus on skills to improve grades on standardized tests.
According to the press release, Holly's mother, Kim Reichert stated, "Holly learned to research, coordinate and persevere through changes. She spent many hours researching age-appropriate science-related materials. She learned how to coordinate work times with volunteer and teacher availability.”
Reichert is a junior at Bellaire High School, where she plays soccer and is a member of both the National Honor Society and the Spanish National Honor Society.
