Bellaire hosts prescription take-back day
The Bellaire Police Department is working with the U.S. Drug Enforcement agency to organize prescription drug take-back events every few months.
The next local event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at Bellaire City Hall.
The goal is to curtail prescription drug abuse and theft. Old and unneeded drugs are also a poisoning hazard. Flushing them down the toilet isn't a good idea either because they often end up in the municipal water supply.
The public is welcome to bring their medications for disposal. There is no charge to do so, and no questions are asked.
The last four local, state and national take-back events have taken in more than a million pounds of pills.
For more information contact Officer Tim Quimby at 713-668-0487.
Bellaire City Hall is located at 7008 S. Rice in Bellaire.
