Bellaire city manager announces new chief of police
Assistant Police Chief Byron Holloway has been chosen by Bellaire City Manager Bernie Satterwhite to fill the post vacated by the retiring chief, Randy Mack.
Holloway has been the assistant chief since 1997; he takes the reins April 25.
Holloway began his career as a patrol officer with the City of Southside Place Police Department in 1975 and joined the Bellaire force in 1977.
“There is no one better to come in and continue to build on the solid foundation that has provided us with one of the best-run and -equipped police departments anywhere,” Satterwhite said via a press release. “And he is committed to reaching out to the citizens of Bellaire to create ways to make the department even more visible and accessible to our public.”
Holloway graduated from Milby High School in Houston and the FBI National Academy in Virginia. He holds Master Peace Officer certification from the Texas Commission of Law Enforcement Standards and Education.
