Rotarians gift city with new landmark

A new clock tower was given by the Bellaire/Southwest Houston Rotary to its namesake city as a landmark in the center of Bellaire’s Paseo Park.

The $25,000 clock is the major community donation of the Rotary this year. The tower features large concrete footings and weighs about 500 pounds.

“The clock tower is both a useful and lasting monument that will be enjoyed for many generations," Rotary spokesperson Nan Wagoner said in a press release. "And the inscription, ‘It’s always time for service above self,’ on the commemorative plaque is a reminder of the importance of community spirit in keeping Bellaire the great place to live and work that it has become.”

This year’s Annual Rotary Fish Fry Fundraiser will take place from 6-10 p.m. on April 21 at Bellaire City Hall. All club projects are funded by the Rotarians' events. Tickets for this event are $25 per person, and can be purchased at www.bellairesw.org. Raffle tickets are also are available online to win door prizes.
