Three ordinances may be acted at the next Bellaire City Council meeting, which will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, March 19, in the council chamber on the first floor of City Hall, 7008 S. Rice Ave. in Bellaire.
According to the agenda, council members may appoint Jerel S. Twyman to a two-year term as an associate judge for the municipal court, ending March 31, 2014.
Another ordinance up for discussion would exempt Bellaire residents age 65 years and older to opt out of the city’s curbside recycling program.
The council will also debate an ordinance that would grant a 10-foot easement and a 10-foot aerial easement to CenterPoint Houston Electric LLC that would allow the utility to build a communications and electric distribution facility. The facility would supply power to the city’s wastewater treatment plant at 4401 Edith Road in Bellaire. The ordinance also would give the mayor power to sign off on the easement agreements.
In other business, council members will consider the removing or trimming of Magnolia trees in the 4500 block of Magnolia Street in Bellaire that are blocking views by pedestrians and motorists. It will also discuss the list of priorities for council and the city.
