Bellaire's Wells nearing The Citadel all-time scoring record
Former Bellaire All-District selection and current Citadel (2-4) guard Cameron Wells is closing in on the school all-time scoring record.
He is 55 points short of the record and averaging more than 18 points per game.
The 6-foot, 1-inch Wells was a CollegeInsider.com Lou Henson All-America Team selection and has also combined with backcourt mate Zach Urbanus for more than 600 career assists.
He was The Sporting News pre-season pick for Southern Conference Player of the Year.
A 2007 graduate of Bellaire High School, Wells lettered in basketball and tennis. He was honored as an All-District and All-Star MVP averaging 16.5 points and 7.0 assists per game. In the Bellaire High School Jaycee Tournament, the Fighting Cardinals were three-time district champs with Wells at the helm. Wells played for Coach Bruce Glover. He is the son of Elaine and Ronald Wells. He is majoring in health and wellness.
The Citadel hosts Davidson Saturday at 3 p.m. in Charleston, South Carolina.
