Pro Baseball: Brian David Friday, Indianapolis Indians

Brian David Friday went 2 for 4 and scored two runs in the Indianapolis Indians's 2-1 loss at the Gwinnett Braves on Thursday. Friday graduated from Bellaire Episcopal High School.

A 2004 graduate of Bellaire Episcopal, Friday accepted a baseball scholarship at Rice University. He played three seasons (2005 to 2007) for the Owls ending his college career with a .327 batting average, 55 doubles, 40 stolen bases and 98 RBIs. Friday was selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the third round (98th overall) of the 2007 Major League Baseball draft. He quickly advanced through the Pirates' system making it to Triple-A Indianapolis of the International League early in the 2010 season, his second full year of professional baseball. Entering 2011, Friday was a career .272 minor league hitter with 73 doubles, 14 triples, 14 home runs, 189 runs scored and 123 RBIs in 345 games. He was born Dec. 16, 1985 in Houston. Read more...

At 5:30 p.m., an incident involving theft was reported in the in the 5700 block of Yarwell Drive.

At 6:30 p.m., an incident involving theft was reported in the in the 1500 block of Meyerland Plaza.

At 7 p.m., an incident involving auto theft was reported in the in the 8900 block of Frankway Drive.

Hector Homero Ramirez was released from custody, according to the Harris County Sheriff‘s Office. Ramirez is listed as living at 5600 Chimney Rock in Houston (77081). Bond for Mr. Ramirez was set at $2,500. He was reportedly arrested on June 18, 2012 on one charge of assault of a family member. Read more...
