College Baseball: Relly Mercurio, TCU

Relly Mercurio went 0 for 1 in TCU's 14-1 win at Utah on Friday. Mercurio graduated from Bellaire High School in 2007.

A 2007 graduate of Bellaire High School, Mercurio earned three varsity letters in baseball playing for coach Rocky Manuel. He was ranked as the No. 61 position player by Perfect Game as a senior, 2006-2007, and as a junior, 2005-2006, he was picked by Baseball America as one of the top 300 members of the class of 2007. Mercurio was named a preseason all-American prior to his senior campaign and earned all-state and all-Greater Houston honors that season. He was a three-time first-team all-district honoree. He was invited to the Perfect Game National Showcase in Arkansas and to the AFLAC Showcase in San Diego following his junior campaign. Mercurio earned the 2007 Ray Knoblauch Award, which is presented to a Bellaire senior for excellence on and off the field. A business major at TCU, he is the son of Jim and Deirdre Mercurio.
