College Baseball: Tyler Duffey, Rice
Tyler Duffey pitched three innings, striking out three and allowing no earned runs Sunday in Rice's 7-6 win over University of Memphis. Duffey graduated from Bellaire High School.
A 2009 graduate of Bellaire High School, Duffey was rated as one of the nation's top prep prospects by Collegiate Baseball during his senior season, 2008-2009, playing for coach Rocky Manuel. That season he helped Bellaire to a April 1, 1934 record and a berth in the semifinal round of the state tournament. Duffey was a three-time all-District 20-5A selection and a two-time pick to the Texas Association of Sports Officials all-tournament-team. He was named a 2008 Houston Area Baseball Coaches Association all-star and played on the 2008 Texas Rangers area code team. Born Dec. 27, 1990 to Tim and Shanna Duffey, he belongs to the Lovette College at Rice.
