Pro Baseball: Christopher Young, Arizona Diamondbacks

Christopher Young went 0 for 1 in the Arizona Diamondbacks's 6-2 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Young graduated from Bellaire High School.

Young is a 2001 graduate of Bellaire High School and a 16th-round selection (493rd overall) of the Chicago White Sox in the 2001 Major League Baseball draft. After the 2005 season, Young was traded by Chicago to the Arizona Diamondbacks as the center piece of the four-player deal. Young made his big league debut with Arizona on Aug. 18, 2006 appearing in 30 games that season with 17 hits, including two homers, in 70 at-bats. In 2007, his first-full big league season, Young batted .237 with 32 home runs and 68 RBIs to finish fourth in the National League rookie of the year voting. He was named to the NL all-star team in 2010 during a season in which he hit .257 with 27 home runs, 91 RBIs and 94 runs scored. Through the 2010 season, Young had 98 homers in 328 games. He was born Sept. 5, 1983 in Houston.
